John Parker is 5 Months Old!
Today, the people I work with threw me a surprise baby shower/birthday celebration. It was so wonderful. They had originally planned it for my birthday but then I took the day off and blew the whole thing so they could only get my department together for the luncheon today but gave me gifts from everyone. I'm so blessed to work with so many generous, thoughtful people.
Tomorrow, our adorable son is going to be five months old! We wish we could hold him in our arms and celebrate with him, but hopefully we'll be able to soon enough!
Some bad news: our agency lost the box of goodies we put together for John and his foster family. It was confirmed that the package never arrived in Korea. This means our son has never seen pictures of us, never wore the outfits we bought for him, and never snuggled with his bear blankie we hoped would become somewhat of a security for him to come home with. It also means that the locket we had engraved for his foster mom never arrived. It also means that John will not come home with tons of pictures that were taken with the disposable cameras, that the book and letter we wrote for the foster mom have never been read, and that John's foster brothers and father never received their NY memorabilia. It's all very unfortunate and very saddening. Our agency did not send the package via a trackable method and did insure the package. They're claiming it was lost in the mail. I have a feeling it never left their office given the troubles we've been having with them throughout this entire process.
The only thing that gets me through this horrific experience is knowing that my boy will be home soon and none of this will really matter anymore. It just makes me so sad that this experience which should be so exciting has been nothing but sadness due to the carelessness of our agency.
Happy Five Month Birthday, John! We can't wait to celebrate your Six Month Birthday as a family.
